About

Emily is from Long Island, NY where she played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse since the age of 4. The Guerra household revolved around athletics and fitness and if she wasn’t playing sports, Emily was drawing, painting, or doing anything creative. She went to continue her basketball career at the collegiate level at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY while earning her Bachelor of Industrial Design. To pursue her career in sports product design, Emily traded the east coast for the west coast, attending the University of Oregon’s Master in Science in Sports Product Design program. Having a vast experience in sport and rehabilitation, Emily continues to apply her athletic background to better comprehend the needs of athletes and the obstacles that arise within the sports product industry.

While completing her degrees, she worked various design internships with focus on medical devices, exercise equipment, and performance footwear innovation. Emily worked with the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator to develop one of her projects relating to injury prevention as well as Under Armour’s Footwear Innovation team where she created a women’s basketball shoe concept. In addition, Emily has a US Patent which has provided her experience with the process of obtaining and navigating the legal aspects of bringing a product to market.

With being an athlete, comes many injuries and Emily has had her fair share. This is where her passion for sports product design grew. Emily’s ultimate goal is to design products that keep athletes doing what they love at the highest level while staying healthy and injury-free. She hopes to use her experiences as a multi-sport athlete and love for art to create innovative apparel or footwear designs that give athletes the opportunity to play at their highest level.
